  • At each meeting, two presenters introduce one or more recent papers, for an allotted time of around 30 minutes each.

  • After the presentations, the speakers for the subsequent meeting are prompted. Their selection generally follows the order in the list on this site.

  • The current organizer is Suro Kim(Contact : surokim@kias.re.kr).

Attendees can sign up for their lunch boxes via the google forms link prepared by the organizer by 18:00 on the Thursday prior.

Speaker : Dr. Raymundo Ramos


Title : Ideas on enhancing Monte Carlo parameter space exploration with machine learning.
 

Abstract: In this talk we will discuss a recent proposal for generating samples of complicated and time consuming calculations with several parameters with the help of a neural network. The main idea is to train a neural network with results from a calculation and guessing which new samples could be of relevance. We will also discuss the application of this idea to problems in high energy physics where high dimensional parameter spaces are common and possible advantages and disadvantages.
