Title: Exploring QCD-like Dynamics with AMSB
Abstract: Understanding strongly coupled gauge theories has been a long-standing goal in particle physics, particularly in the context of ordinary Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), which involves color confinement and chiral symmetry breaking. A systematic study of the phases of SUSY SU(N) gauge theories perturbed via anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB) was initiated. This approach has already yielded many new results, including novel symmetry-breaking patterns for chiral gauge theories.
In this talk, I discuss some of the findings, including the CP structure of the QCD-like theories at \theta = pi and heavy quark's effects on the vacuum structure of the theories. I have found that there is a critical quark mass for one flavor, below which CP symmetry is unbroken, while above this critical mass, CP symmetry is spontaneously broken. For two flavors, CP symmetry is always broken as long as the quark masses are equal and non-zero. Furthermore, there is a non-trivial phase boundary for unequal quark masses, which can be generally extended to scenarios involving more than two flavors.
All my results are in agreement with the predictions for ordinary QCD, which were based on anomaly matching arguments for generalized symmetries and the effective chiral Lagrangian. As a phenomenological application, I solve for the mixing between n' and nc in different phases of AMSB QCD, which can explain unexpectedly large B → n' X decay. The masses and decay constants of n' and nc mesons are also computed. It is found that the heavy quark decouples from the n' meson, matching our physical intuition. Additionally, I attempt to reproduce and predict results from the chiral Lagrangian from first principles.
