Description

Title: A light $L_\mu - L_\tau$ gauge boson for $g_\mu - 2$, dark matter and a few other things

Speaker: Prof. Manuel Drees (Universität Bonn)

Abstract: The difference of lepton numbers, $L_\mu - L_\tau$, can be gauged in the SM without introducing anomalies.  This new gauge boson can explain the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, if its mass is sufficiently small.  Adding a dark matter candidate to the model leads to a very constrained region of parameter space with the correct thermal relic density, improved description of cosmological data ("Hubble tension"), and a partial explanation of the excess of 511 keV photons from the galactic center; all in agreement with various astrophysical and accelerator constraints.
