Description

Title: Probing first-order electroweak phase transition via primordial black holes in the effective field theory

Speaker: Masanori Tanaka (Osaka University)

Abstract: If the first-order electroweak phase transition (EWPT) occurs, the primordial black holes (PBHs) could be formed. We discuss a new possibility that PBH observations can be able to reveal the strongly first-order EWPT. The typical mass of a PBH from the first-order EWPT is about 10^{-5} solar mass. Such PBHs can be observed by microlensing observations such as OGLE, Subaru HSC, PRIME and Roman. We show that the structure of Higgs sector can be synergistically tested by the PBH observations, future collider experiments and gravitational wave observations at future space-based interferometers. When we discuss the testability of the first-order EWPT, a new effective field theory is used in order to obtain model independent results.
